Research areas
The Department of Human Sciences promotes and develops research activities in different study areas. Research projects are developed nationally and internationally in collaboration with universities and public institutions, research bodies, schools, companies and other third sector subjects. The research activities are characterized by the multiplicity of methodological approaches adopted, and by their multidisciplinary and interdisciplinary nature.
The research activity of the Department is organised in six study areas.
COMMUNICATION and MEDIA

As far as the “Communication and media” area is concerned, the Department’s research aims to experiment innovative ways of using new technologies within the advertising and communication sector. The research activity, starting from an analysis of new languages and new communication models born with digitization, also addresses the issues of online information management and transparency of companies’ and organizations’ activities.
ECONOMICS AND MARKETING

As far as the “Economics and Marketing” area is concerned, the Department’s research aims to investigate the world of production and business through a multidisciplinary approach in line with the transformations of the labour market. The analysis of production and commercial relationships facilitates the development of integrated communication models to be applied in the context of socio-economic exchanges, through the interaction with social networks and cultural processes. The aim is to promote methods and tools for managing business processes in global markets, by increasing relationships in business networks in multicultural contexts, supporting good practices and promoting more efficient international policies.
EDUCATIONAL AND TEACHING PROCESSES

With regard to the “Educational and teaching processes” area, the Department’s research aims to study the training and educational contexts, in order to analyse the models proposed both in terms of methodologies and in terms of management and organization. On the one hand, the focus is on the development of training models useful for developing meaningful and transferable learning, with particular attention to e-learning and the possibility of using digital technologies; on the other hand, the focus is on the analysis of school organizational phenomena, with particular attention to the leadership and the management of educational institutions.
MOTOR SCIENCES – SPORT EDUCATION

As far as ”Motor sciences – sport education” is concerned, the Department’s research aims to develop a European dimension of sport as a tool for healthy life education. This is to be achieved through cooperation between organizations from different countries. The interest is aimed at improving sport education by trying to change young people’s approach to sport, by developing knowledge and new skills in the fields of sport, anti-doping, disability, nutrition, health and well-being, in line with the European strategy for promoting good health, and with the growth targets of the 2020 agenda.
PEDAGOGY

As far as the pedagogy area is concerned, the Department promotes research projects characterized by marked interdisciplinarity – above all with the other human sciences – and inspired by constant confrontation with the international pedagogical debate. The research activity is aimed at multiple educational and training processes – from early childhood services to adult training – and is characterized by a strong focus on emerging innovative practices and the dissemination of research results in education and training contexts.
PSYCHOLOGY

In the psychological field, the Department aims to investigate issues related to psychological phenomena starting from a bio-psycho-social approach aimed at analysing the cognitive, emotional and relational processes involved in human behaviour. The studies investigate psychological phenomena within the reference systems, also considering recent brain-based research, with particular attention to the learning and training contexts, the family, businesses, organizations and the community.
