International agreements

Within the framework of the already existing relations for research activities carried out by IUL scholars and researchers, formal actions have been undertaken for the stipulation of framework agreements with extra-European and European universities, for specific more intense joint teaching activities and research. In particular, an agreement has already been reached with the University of Malta, while negotiations are underway with the University of Arkansas, the Universitade Federal do Parana (UFPR) of Curitiba, Brazil, and the University of Chitkhara, India. The bilateral agreements have the purpose of building those conditions of full institutional synergy, in order to develop double degree diploma projects, international research protocols, mobility exchanges of teachers, students and administrative staff.

Visiting professor

Since the Academic Year 2018/19 a teacher visits programme with professors coming from the University of Reading (UK) and Toronto (Canada) has been active at IUL University.

From autumn 2019, seminars offered by professors from the University of Malta, and Kobe City (Osaka, Japan) are scheduled.

An experimental co-teaching programme at a distance (twin-teaching) will be implemented during the A.Y. 2019/20 for the master’s degree LM-57, with a teaching from the host university, and hosting a twin module at the University of Curitiba (UFPR).

Foreign students

The personalised courses for students of bachelor’s and master’s degree programmes allow access to foreign students of different nationalities, to whom linguistic and didactic support in English is provided. Alongside the recognition of qualifications for those coming from the European training area (ETCS system), there are also post-secondary school continuing education programmes, through which many non-European citizens have access to degree courses.

University mobility

University mobility concerns in particular the teaching staff that over the last few academic years have carried out teaching and research activities abroad, at the invitation of European and non-European universities. Among the initiatives, those undertaken with international research networks, involving IUL researchers in collaborations with Manipal University (India), Chitkara University (India), the Universidad Castilla la Mancha (Spain), the Symbiosis International University (India), the Pondicherry University (India), the Latvijas Universitāte (Latvia), and the University of Toronto (Canada) were extremely successful.

During the A.Y. 2018/19, students and professors of the University of Arkansas (USA) were hosted in an applied research session, dedicated to the social development potentials of urban gardens, a research carried out in collaboration with the Municipality of Rome.
