How to become a socio-pedagogical educator or a pedagogist: IUL’s tailor made educational provision
The amendments made by Budget Law 2018 introduced new requirements for socio-pedagogical professional educators and pedagogists.
According to the Law, in order to qualify as professional socio-pedagogical educator it is necessary to obtain a bachelor’s degree in Science of Education (L-19), while to become a pedagogist it is required a master’s degree in a related area of studies including Science of adult education and lifelong learning (LM-57).
Since several years, the educational provision of IUL university has encompassed the graduate and post graduate courses granting the above-mentioned qualifications.
The bachelor’s degree “Methods and techniques for educational interactions” (L-19) is mainly addressed to teachers and all those wishing to work in and with the school, making use of new technologies for learning.
The master’s degree “Educational innovation and lifelong learning” ( LM-57) is mainly addressed to teachers, and educational and curriculum experts. The aim is to form experts in the provision, promotion and organisation of educational services. Moreover, the course provides specialised knowledge in pedagogical, sociological, psychological, economic and ethical sciences.
The 2018 budget law introduces the possibility to qualify as a professional socio-pedagogical educator by attending an intensive training course (60 ECTS credits) organised by universities, also delivered via distance learning. IUL is preparing a specific educational offer, issuing 60 ECTS credits and granting the above-mentioned qualification.
In order to be admitted to these courses it is necessary to meet one of the following requirements:
- a) to have passed an open competition to become a professional educator
- b) to have worked for at least three years as an educator
- c) to hold a secondary school diploma from a high school specialising in education issued by AY 2001/2002
