L-20 Online degree Innovative, multimedia and digital communication

Corso di Laurea Triennale in “Comunicazione innovativa, multimediale e digitale” [Classe L-20]

The online Bachelor’s degree course in innovative, multimedia and digital communication has the general objective of training graduates by providing them with adequate mastery of the scientific bases and essential concepts of human and social disciplines and specific competences in the area of ​​communication, media, technologies, digital cultures, information systems and the cultural industry.

The course provides the basis for access to master’s degrees providing skills in the field of journalism, cultural industry, digital communication, digital education and research applied to the media.

It should be noted that the bachelor’s degree course in innovative, multimedia and digital communication is a newly established course. The academic year 2020/2021 is the first year of the programme and therefore at this stage it won’t be possible to request any credit recognition for the following years.

Distinctive elements of the course in Communication Sciences are:

  • a solid basic preparation in the field of communication sciences with particular reference to the methods of analysing communication phenomena and processes, whether they can be traced back to the individual or collective sphere;
  • an adequate knowledge of the Italian language in its expressive forms, both oral and written, and the possession of fluent knowledge of at least another language of the European Community;
  • ability to understand and apply knowledge relating to information and media technologies with particular reference to the design and development of activities with specific IT content;
  • adequate knowledge of the technological sector applied to general and special education (differently-abled people), as well as the adoption of new technologies of visual and multimedia communication, both in the journalistic-television field and in the cultural one, and of new forms of expression;
  • autonomous analysis and processing skills, characterizing a versatile professional figure, oriented towards problem solving;
  • the ability to effectively and efficiently manage their own time and that of others, and team working.

The training course includes all sectors of communication sciences with particular relevance reserved for specific issues of information and communication technologies, with attention to theoretical, methodological and applicative aspects.

 

Graduates will be able to work in the communication and press offices of public and private entities; as a communication architect specialised in information and multimedia technologies applied to communication processes and the creation of cultural contents; as an expert operator in the professional activities of institutions, local authorities, public and private organizations operating in municipal, regional, national and international territories for analysis and management of communication and information processes.

  • Experts in education technologies in the field of educational, training and curricular planning.

Enrolment is open to students in possession of any secondary school qualification (upper secondary schools with a five-year duration), attesting basic knowledge, with particular regard to the disciplines of the linguistic literary, artistic, sociological, historical, philosophical, psycho-pedagogical, and scientific sectors. The methods for verifying the entry requirements are governed by the didactic regulations of the degree programme, which also indicate in detail the additional educational obligations envisaged in the event that the entry requirements are not fulfilled.

The amount of taxes may vary according to the individual income bracket (not ISEE), as determined in the table below:

In the case of enrolment or transfer from another course, the amount of € 16.00 of the revenue stamp must be added to this amount.

The annual fee can be divided into two instalments:

the first instalment of € 1,100.00 to be paid upon enrolment (if made before 10 May, 2021);

the second instalment must be paid by 10 May 2021. At the request of the student certifying that he/she belongs to bracket n. 1 (see table above) the amount of the second instalment will be € 700.00, instead of € 1,000.00.

The student who intends to make use of this reduction must connect to the student portal and, in the “Personal data” menu, select the item “Tax return” and follow the procedure indicated, necessarily attaching one of the following models: Unified Form or Form 730 of the year 2020 (referring to the year 2019). Unemployed students will have to upload a self-certification declaration of unemployment (pursuant to art. 46, Presidential Decree No. 445/00).

Once this documentation has been uploaded, it will be necessary to contact the Academic office (segreteria@iuline.it) to verify the adequacy of the documents and proceed with the manual recalculation of the second instalment.

 

This procedure must be carried out by the student before the due date of the second instalment. Those who have not submitted the request for a reduction of the second instalment will be required to pay the instalment envisaged for income bracket n.2 (see the table above).

Those who enrol after 10 May 2021 will have to pay the enrolment fee (€ 1,800.00 / 2,200.00) in a single solution and submit upon enrolment an application for a reduction in the second instalment.

The payment of the second instalment made after the deadlines set by the Administration (for newly registered students who will register before 10 May, 2021) will be subject to the payment of default fees determined as follows:

 

– delays up to 30 days: late payment € 30;

– delays of more than 30 days: Late payment fee € 50

 

Students regularly enrolled in the years before the academic year 2019/2020 (enrolled in successive years) must comply with the following deadlines for payments:

 

  • the first instalment by 5 October 2020;
  • the second instalment by 10 May 2021.

For payments made after the established deadlines, the default fees for the first and second instalments will be applied.

In order to take the exams or other forms of verification and acquire the relative ECTS credits, students must be in compliance with the payment of the fees. At the same time, it will not be possible to issue any certificate relating to the university career of students whose position is irregular.

 

After online enrolment, the student is assigned the credentials (username and password) to access the IUL platform.

Within the IUL platform you can follow the video lessons at any time of the day and from any device. Support materials (slides and documents in pdf format) and podcasts are available for each discipline. The student is assisted throughout the course by a specialized tutor who, through the forum, supports all teaching activities and responds to requests for further information. There are also optional (synchronous) virtual meetings involving the whole class. At the end of each module, the student will have the opportunity to take intermediate tests (study of individual cases or project works).

The exams take place face to face and in oral form in one of the IUL affiliated offices in Italy.

The duration of the Bachelor’s degree course in “Innovative Multimedia and digital communication” (Class L20) is three years for a total of 180 ECTS credits.

For the academic year 2020/2021, the start and end periods of the teaching activities are as follows: 16, November 2020 – 5 June, 2021.
